We visited this Houston Chinatown spot for Friday brunch and were seated almost immediately. The restaurant operates on a semi-self-service model where guests can either scan a QR code at the table to order digitally or place an order directly with the waitstaff. We tried the R3 House Special Shrimp & Beef with Chives Rice Roll and the R12 Charsiu BBQ Pork Rice Roll. The dishes were made fresh to order, so there was a brief wait for the food to arrive. The total cost was ~$16, which is economical for Houston. The R3 House Special Shrimp & Beef with Chives Rice Roll was delicious, but the R12 Charsiu BBQ Pork fell short due to an excessively thick rice noodle layer, a very mild sauce, and a lack of meat filling. Overall, the food quality was not consistent but the portion was generous. The service was prompt but lacked attentiveness (no refilling the water). The space has a casual, cafeteria-like atmosphere with tables packed closely together, though the noise level remained moderate during our visit.

Their congee is superb. Very very delicious texture. Awesome milk tea. I’m not Chinese but I think these items taste very different compared to the your normal Bellaire Chinese food. Maybe regional, I love it. The pork liver is alittle tough, I recommend their signature congee with the peanut. The beef and shrimp rolls were okay. The shrimp one by itself & brisket is better.

We are from Dallas, where Cantonese food options are very limited. According to my husband, who was born and raised in Guangzhou, the dishes we tried were very authentic. Since I don’t have much experience with Cantonese food myself, I would simply say that everything tasted fresh and suited my palate: not too greasy and not too salty. I especially recommend the dual-egg and green onion dough sticks. It was my first time trying them, and I was very impressed by the crunchy dough on the outside and the soft eggs inside. Our son, who is ABC, also enjoyed the food here.

We had shrimp rice roll, fish ball and pork skin, fried dough, liver congee, fish congee, satay beef noodles and thai ice tea. The shrimp rice roll has excellent rice roll but shrimp is not fresh or perhaps if frozen need soak in ginger water to take away ice smell. Fish ball pork skin flavor is boring, congee are ok, satay beef noodles again just like curry fish ball, flavor is very boring. Thai ice tea good. Fried dough excellent but quantity is meager. I definitely go again for the plain rice roll. Excellent texture. The rest is forgetable
